Venue Description:
'At 135 metres, The London Eye is the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel and a contemporary icon for London. It has 32 high-tech glass viewing capsules which comfortably take up to 25 free-standing passengers each. A gradual 360° rotation takes approximately 30 minutes. All capsules have a climate control system and are weather-proof.
The attraction is a “must do” for any visitor to London and gives spectacular aerial views of many of London’s most famous sights, looking down on Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square. The structure is an inspiring feat of engineering and design which instils a quiet pride and passion in Londoners, and awe and amazement in all visitors.
Since its opening in March 2000 as a Millennium project, The London Eye has welcomed over 30 million visitors and has become the UK’s most popular paid-for attraction, with over 78 awards for national and international tourism, outstanding architectural quality and engineering achievement. The London Eye is operated by the London Eye Company Limited, a Merlin Entertainments Group Company.'
